Coach Excursion - Kykkos Monastery and Kakopetria

Our first stop is Kakopetria, a well-preserved village with traditional picturesque houses dating back to the 14th century AD. In Kakopetria you will get the chance to walk around the quaint little village, known for its running waters and mini waterfall and mingle with the friendly locals.

Driving through the Troodos cedar forest mountains, our next stop is Throni, where, with the tour guide, you will visit the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of Cyprus. We then drive to Kykkos Monastery, founded by the Byzantines in 1092. Kykkos is renowned for its wealth and features gold icons, preserved frescoes and bright mosaics. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and also possesses one of the three surviving icons ascribed to Saint Luke. The miraculous icon, which is covered in silver gilt and enclosed in a shrine of tortoise shell and mother-of-pearl, holds an eminent position in the church. Free time will be given to have lunch (optional extra).

• No tank tops or shorts allowed for men or women inside the monastery - so dress appropriately or bring along a change of clothing.
• Pick up is only available from Protaras, Ayia Napa and Larnaca Pick up points
• Be Ready at the pick up point at least 5 minutes before the pick up time in case the bus arrives earlier.
  
• Have your ticket / voucher with you on the day of the excursion and give it to the bus driver when you are picked up.
• You can carry food and drinks with you, but consumption is not allowed on the bus. Only water consumption is allowed on the bus.
• Meals are not included in our excursion price.
  
• Time spent at each pick up point and excursion stop are approximate estimates and could change depending on road traffic.

• Infants up to 24 months travel free and will not be charged. Children 2-12 years are allowed a 50% discount of the adult price.
