A rugged off road adventure, an excursion that combines a series of stops including traditional villages, panoramic views, an abandoned copper mine.
We set off from the Kapparis/ Pernera /Protaras/Ayia Napa and Larnaca areas and our first stop is the Monastery of Ayia Thekla. It is said that Saint Helen arrived in the area where the monastery is today where she prayed to God and holy water began to flow from the earth. This refreshed her and her entourage. She then had a church build here which she dedicated to the first female Martyr, apostle Saint Thekla. (http://ww1.antiochian.org/life_of_thekla). The Holy water exists to the present day and is used by the faithful for the treatment of skin ailments.
We then go off-road to a copper mine of old. Our journey continues to a traditional village where we have a traditional Cyprus coffee at a coffee shop ‘kafeneio’ on the square (plateia). We continue to see some panoramic views for photos of Cyprus lakes and then visit one of Cyprus' iconic villages; the lace village of Lefkara. Its cobbled stoned streets are lined with shops and workshops of lace and filigree silver.
Our final stop is the magnificent Governors Beach. Very fine stoned sandy cove beaches with snow white rock outcrops into the crystal sea. Here you will be able to go for a refreshing swim, have a bite to eat and drink (not included in price) and then head back home.
