Full Description

• We take a walk through the traditional village of Lefkara which is split into Pano and Kato Lefkara (higher and lower Lefkara), It is renowned for its traditional handicrafts of lace embroidery and filigree silver. The village is situated at the foot of the Troodos Mountains in the south eastern region, 650 m above sea level, 43 km from Larnaca.
  Its picturesque character has narrow, winding streets and traditional architecture, built from the local stone. Ancient chapels, include the church of Timios Stavros (Holy Cross), and the chapel of Archangelos Michail in Kato Lefkara, with frescoes dating back to 12th and 15th centuries.
• Time dependant, we could do a linear walk (going back and returning on the same route) on the dirt road around Lefkara manmade lake - one of the most beautiful manmade wetlands in Cyprus, having steep hills around it.
• We then explore the neolithic settlement of Choirokoitia situated in the Maroni valley, about 6 km from the southern coast of the island, the site lies in a hilly landscape in the foothills of the Troodos massif. It constitutes the most impressive example of the initial establishment of sedentary communities on the island and the development of an original civilisation: the Cypriot Aceramic Neolithic. These communities originated from the neighbouring mainland and settled in Cyprus at the end of the 7th millennium B.C. bringing with them plants and animals unknown until then to Cyprus.

• Time dependant, we follow the day's program - possibly stopping off at the Ancient Church of Panagia Angeloktisti in Kiti, followed by birdwatching on the wetlands and a tavern meal.

Know before you go

• Pickup location : At an agreed location: eg. hotel, resort or landmark of a main city: such as Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca, Pissouri, Protaras, Ayia Napa.
• From Agia Napa or Protaras the trip would make sense if the duration is 8 or 10 hours, as, due to the significant distance, there is considerable time to be spent in the car.
• Minimum age of passengers: 18 years
